Stock 89 5.0 auto upgrades.

I have a 1989 5.0 auto convertible. I'm looking to do a few upgrades in the quest to get into the 13's in the 1/4. All the car has is a cat back everything else is 100% stock. I'm looking to ad a CAI, 4.10's, Long tubes, E303 cam and possibly a performance valve body for better shifts. I have never run this car down the track but I'd guess it does high 14's? With this list would you think 13's are a reasonable goal?

Add a set of gt40 heads and gt40 intake to what you already listed and you will have a solid low 13 second car. With some drag radials and suspension you may crack a 12.9x. Also you may need a stall converter with all that but i dont know much about automatics. It doesnt take too much power to go fast in these cars

Your weakness is going to be the aod trans. Don't expect it to hold up long to any power.

About how much power will the aod take? I don't need the car to have a lot of power I have my 02 for that. I just would like it to be in the 13's.

The aod can handle a 13 second car but not much more. That is of course depending on the abuse it endures.
