Hey, I also have a 5speed 88 vert. Welcome! First off, upgrade to MAF its easy (check out fiveologyracing.com) Next your going to want to get welded FULL length subframe braces. Oil, oil filter, coolant, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter... change all of these if they are not new. Next your upgrades all depend on what you want out of your fox!

It all depends on what you are looking to do HP/TQ and driving style wise. I'd be happy to help you with a build plan.

Welcome man! Sad to say that I sold my fox body in the fall. I had a '92 hatcback 5 speed and loved it. It just needed a lot of work after 2 years of high school and 5 years of college with a ton of driving to Columbus from Cincinnati. Ended up selling it with 168k miles on it and never even had to take the valve covers off lol. Fox bodies are fun though, enjoy!

I'm still learning too. Heres what I'll say though... In stock trim a 302 with non gt40 parts, is torque-ee to begin with. Almost ANY airflow modifications you make be it heads, intake (upper or lower), throttle body, MAF housing or CAI will move your peak torque Higher up in the rev range. So unless you are either increasing displacement or using a power adder (nitrous oxide, turbo or blower) you will not increase your lower end torque, you will however almost certainly decrease it. That being said your PEAK or even Average torque can still go up, they will just shift. Nearly any airflow modifications will raise your engines ability to breath better above 4k RPM so your horsepower will increase as your engine is able to work harder higher up. Hope some of that makes sense
