Detonation Question?

My car has been dyno tuned for 93 octane , I don't drive my car much but when I do start it up and rev it , it sounds like detonation, if I put octane booster on with every full tank of gas will this help till I get back to the speed shop?

I don't know much bout stuff like that. I wouldn't want to tell u to do something and be responsible for blowing your motor. I'd feel had and we would have to set up a payment plan lol.

Check timing, make sure that you didnt get a bad batch of fuel. Check your spout connector. next idea (because those octane boosters are CRAP, buy a gallon of race fuel.

I also suspect bad gas. Has this issue been for more than a couple tanks of gas?

If you decide to drive it just try not to load the engine. For example don't go up a hill in a high gear. Don't drive 20 mph in 4th gear. Etc etc. Loading is when detonation will most likely occur.

Also I would just back the timing off a couple of degrees before you drive it there. But inform the shop that you are doing that so they don't try saying oh its fine, or you messed with it etc.

It could be bad gas , I've only fill the tank twice since last April , only has 334 miles on it since new motor and trans went in!!
