245 45zr17

Just received my new 17" cobra R rims and tires. I went with the Nexen 3000 245 zr 17 on all 4. I just put them on and I took it out for a spin. I have a 1987 GT Convertible and it seems that when I turn the wheels half way, they rub against the front bumper. Is there anyway around this besides ordering smaller tires? Your input would be appreciated. Thanks

What year is your stang, up to 90 the fender opening was smaller than the 91-93. Smaller tires may be your only option.
