curious.....engine overhaul

So im curious about my 5.0 engine. If and when I decide to do the overhaul....is it necessary to have it bored out or can it stay the same except with just new pistons and rings?

Depends on how many miles are on the motor an how much wear is present. I have seen blocks with over 100K miles and not need to be bored out. But I've also seen blocks with 30K miles that needed a bore. Your best bet is to have te block checked by a reputable machine shop.

I say, find another 5.0 and build it on the side so you can still drive yours.

www.50resto.com sells budget blocks for $999 and forged internal blocks for $1,600
