Ps pump

Put in a new ps pump, can't get it to shut up. It works but there is constant whine, it's not terribly loud, just wondering if its possible to shut it up.

Have the same issue man. It annoys the piss outta me. Just have a louder exhaust setup lol. That's one good way to shut up up. Haha.

For some reason it is very typical of the fox body pumps. Every now and then you might be able to find a quiet one.

It's the pumps that make the whining noise.

Ok so that leaves me to ask the question, does anyone know of a specific suplier that has "quiet" pumps? Or does anyone know which pump you might have a better chance of getting quiet? Like factory pumps, OEM replacement pumps or rebuilt pumps?

I can tell u this....I have a '91 GT and I replaced the pump. Whinned loudly. So I figured i would try the Lucas ps oil. No help. I have tried damn near every product on the market to quiet it down and no resolution. Then some say get a louder exhaust. Obviously they dont know the whine we r talking about. A louder exhaust only helps when you are actually running. Try pulling in a parking lot and park somewhere. Or a gas station. Just at idle. Very irritating beyond belief. So if anyone has any suggestions or help I too would be greatly appreciative

I know the feeling, and the looks that some people give when it's sounding like your pump is going out and it's new.

My pump doesn't whine when under load, it only whines when I don't touch the wheel. I tested it in my driveway, when turning the wheel it would shut up, when I would stop turning and hold the wheel still, it would whine. Like I said before, mine isn't too bad, and from what everyone is saying i won't be able to get it any quieter. Time for me to make a new invention...a quiet ps pump!

I bought mine from Advanced Auto. It was a rebuilt core. That alone could be the problem. If you find which brand or type please let me know
