Cams

So, I had a guy working at a machine shop tell me that "if I had a 302 h.o. block and was gonna use an aftermarket cam then I would need a different block anyway." That doesn't make sense to me since people rebuild motors all the time with ford, tf, lunati, ect. cams. Anybody have any advice on what I need to run a ford b cam?

Go tell that guy to go work at autozone because he's a ****ing idiot lol.

For a b-cam? You need gaskets, little bit of knuckle blood, oil to change after 50miles or so of operation, and some time and patience....

You can reuse all the stock parts provided they are of good working order ( does the car run and drive fine right now? )

After that oil change, 5 minutes of sitting time outside the car ( preferably towards the back or wherever you have the exhaust exiting ) with the engine running will be needed to permanently install a giant grin on your face.

That's what I thought. Car runs ok now, but over 200k needs a rebuild. I'm trying to build a motor to drop in as car is my dd. I'm planning on stock bottom end with AFR 165, and b cam, if I can find the cash I'll change intake and tb too, but what else should I change? I should change to maf while I'm at it. Car is sd right now. Any help?

With those afr's, go to 30 lb injectors and maf so you'll have room to upgrade.

Rule #1 is that anyone working at autozone/advance/wherever is a ****ing moron.

Rule #2 is go on the website and arrive with part numbers.

I have too many times had the dip****s behind the counter at the box stores tell me what I "needed" for my car... no... if you were a real mechanic you'd be working at a shop or a dealer on your way to A-Tech. You work at Autozone, you are too stupid to actually work at a real shop. Here is the part# of what I need, have fun making $9/hr and wanting to kill yourself when you see your paycheck.
