Sound and speed

I have a 88 gt. only thing I've done to it is installed off road h-pipes. I'm still not satisfied with the sound and speed. What kind of headers would give me the boost in speed and the deep distinct mustang sound?

I went with all MAC. Mac shorty headers, Prochamber and catback. Very happy with speed and sound!

I went with BBK equal length headers , Bassani off road x-pipe, and American thunder 40 series.
Sounds awesome with my HCI

For the sound I'm a fan of both the flowmasters and Mac systems. There's only so much power increase from exhaust alone. You may want to look into gears and/or engine parts.

A straight thru muffler is gonna be less restrictive than a chambered muffler like Flowmaster. Just keep that in mind.

There is the 10 series flow masters. I have them on my car and it sounds pretty mint. If your using your stock mufflers that might be the reason your not satisfied with the sound. And the best performance headers you can get are long tube headers they are a lot harder to install and your going to have to cut your full length h-pipe to make them fit.

Well I have flowmaster 40's on mine. So 10's might be better? And long tubes are definitely better for speed and sound?

Long tubes are better no matter what you doing. I have BBK Long-tubes, BBK offroad H-pipe and 2 gt500 sport mufflers.

The 10's will be louder!!! The sound is pretty sick man. I have heard a lot of other flow masters and I don't think any of them sound as good. But that is just me!!

Other car Mac shortys, h pipe and I think they are MAC welded aluminum muffs ad rolled 2-1/2 tips. Gonna change it to a pro chamber soon. Car is loud as hell at idle cruise and when u hammer down its insane!!

I love the sound of my bbk shortys an off road H-pipe into flow 40s. I get a lot of complements from other foxes on the sound. And its even bearable driving 75mph on hwy with 4.10s an a 5-speed. Barely any in car drone. But remember that the seat of pants power increase is very minimal with jus exhaust upgrade. Hardly noticeable. But its gotta be done to free up airflow for future mods. I'm also kinda partial to magnaflow mufflers myself, but these flow 40s sound really good also

Ya , video captures all the exact sound just not as loud. And that was only about a 3000rpm rev on a cold motor. Try standing behind it when I'm laying rubber at 4500rpm+ lol. If my clutch lasts long enough I'll try and get some help videoing it.

I actually like the sound of my Magnaflow
