Speedo gear

Just got a ticket today. Honestly had no idea how fast I was going because my speedo is wrong. I have a 1990 AOD and a 3.73 in the back. What speedo gear do I need?

I'm not sure which color, but I'm pretty sure most if the aftermarket mustang sites have a selection and it tells you what color to get for the application.

There isn't a ford gear that'll get it accurate since the 1990 AOD has an 8 tooth drive gear. You can try the 23 tooth chrysler gear but it'll get chewed up because the mesh is off.

Have a buddy drive next to you on the highway. Tell him to go exactly 55. Or whatever your speed limit is, and match his speed. Then, note the rpms and the speed your speedo is clocking, and know that whatever speed is being shown, is ACTUALLY 55.

You just have to hope your friend isn't a dick and actually does 65 when you tell him to do 55. Lol.

This was the way to do it back in 2003... Just use a speedo app on your smartphone to see how fast you are going via GPS lol.
