So i replaced the Air valve idle today. Fixed the idling problem. But when i went to start it the starter finally shot out i had to drop the clutch to start. (Cause i have to park it out onto my street for now)
I found the leaking problem and that sucker is coming out this friday hopefully. Also going to order the new starter. Previous owner said i still had a warranty on it. Going to give a call and see if it still or even had one. Began the top roof and hatch sanding process for the paint job next week. Looks like i have a HUGE list then i thought :/.
@Four eyes i may be interested in your offer for the wheel exhange as much as it is nice i prefer to keeps things original where are you located?

My 1st project car was an 85 merc. Capri ugly as hell when I bought it and didn't run worth a crap. If your doing a full restoration, then get it running right first, then do everything else as you go

Yes it's in great shape. No problems whatsoever. Just been looking for a grant GT wheel for a while.

I just order the parts from autozone. Didnt have a warranty on the starter solenoid, so ill just have to buy one along with a freeze plug. (Found out they only have one plug in stock a steel and brass plug. So right now im just going to buy the one brass plug for a temp fix. Need this thing running correctly. Seems like freeze plugs are not as popular and that they're being downstocked and removed wonder why ?:/

You just can't ever give up on them! You will find a ton of surprises. The other day I decided to take my spare out. So I did. Well under the damn tire was a nice little mouse nest!

If that was the only issue for my car"remove the mouse nest, and you will have a car of wonders!" Hahaha

Got it! After getting the thing to turn over my battery was low. So i gave it a jump start what do you know it started right up! Now i got my freeze plug to replace, put in a new catted H pipe and get it sanded for paint. Glad the headaches over so stoked!

Hey, if you need a MAF conversion kit, I have an unused kit I purchased from Home
I'd sell it for 200 just let me know, It cost me 300 and is still in the original box

---------- Post added 07-27-2013 at 12:00 AM ---------- Previous post was 07-26-2013 at 11:57 PM ----------

I had mice nest between my upper and lower intake with the previous owner. Also my car overheated 2 days after I bought it, ended up spending 2k to fix it. I knew nothing about cars (practically at least) before I did the same thing you did. You'll hate your car, you'll love your car, then hate it some more but in the end you'll learn an incredible amount and form a truly amazing bond with a hunk of metal that burns fossils
