trans pan gasket

So I was helping my buddy change his oil in his car and we noticed the trans pan was leaking onto the exhaust. The problem being is we dont know what transmission he has and cannot find any numbers, the car was thrown together really sloppy from the previous owner. So we counted the bolts and I believe it has 11. And of course the guys at the parts store had no idea where to begin to start, the don't know anything unless you know the year, type of car kind of people. So any thoughts? The car is a 1990 body with a 1989 carbed 302.

It's possible it could be a c4 or c5. Those tranny pans are square and pretty small. I'd have to crawl and count my bolts. They also just use a wire screen filter instead of a modern style.

Does the pan also have the dip stick tube threaded into it on the passenger side?

Sounds like a C4 trans. Does this thing shift into overdrive or just whirr down the highway at 3500 rpm? A C4 does not have overdrive.

I will have to double check the bolt count and look for the threaded dipstick, just curious as to what transmission it could be. I think it does not have overdrive.
