Driveshaft/pinion looseness?

I was taking out the driveshaft on my T-5 and as I was loosening the rear bolts I noticed that it has some play in it. Bolts are tight but best way to describe is if you grab the driveshaft it has some wiggle and you can hear the rear gears clunk. Is this the backlash in the rear diff? How much play should it have? Thanks.

I don't think it is the u joint.. The part coming out of the diff is actually moving.
