v6 to 302 swap

I'm pretty sure the engine my dad is giving me is a late 70s carbed 302, I'm only unsure about the year. Ive bought a 4barrel intake and 69 heads that my dad said would raise the compression to 11:1. The guy that sold me the heads said they had some machine work and 3 angle valve jobs. My question is, what do you guys think the engine will produce power wise? And besides a new bellhousing for my t5 and a 8.8 rear, what else will I need to change so that she will run smoothly??

I really don't think it will be worth the swap

Your 3.7 has more torque as well as more horsepower. Your car is way heavier then the Mustangs that the 302 was installed in.

Of course you can do what you want but I sure would not ruin a good 3.7 (227ci) unless my engine was already puked or something.

But if you decide to do it you can probably sell your 3.7 engine to defray your costs. I would also think of getting a four speed and rear to match the 302 your installing. There are plenty of them in the scrap yards.

Send for a NPD catalog because they have all of the parts you may need for such a swap.

Try this: http://www.npdlink.com/store/catalog...gs-2763-1.html

I have the single port 3.8, 150hp stock, and I've done a true dual exhaust and Bbk cai so maybe 160 to the wheels. That year 302 doesn't even make 200hp??

That year 302 with a 4bbl will probably get you around 250hp stock. I question the "heads giving you 11:1 compression". The compression in Windsor engines was usually controlled by piston dome shape. If the bottom side of the heads were milled, a small amount of compression increase may be gained but...11:1? Stock was 8.5-9:1. The swap shouldn't be that much of a big deal. Not sure if the bell housing from the six will fit however.

Some things you'll want to look into...

Might need a bigger radiator, battery, and beefier suspension.
What mustang is this for?
U should definitely make sure your t5 is the v8 version. The v6 version cant handle the torque of a v8 and the splines wont line up to the engine.
You've probably already thought about motor mounts and such.

I have a 98 v6. But I've thought about the motor mounts, probably gonna find a tubular k member with the mounts I need as well. Now I'm guessing I'll need to pull a gt trans to handle the torque? The only thing I'm worried about is if my fuel lines can handle the extra fuel flow needed so I don't starve the v8, that would be counterproductive haha
