Gas odor

Why do old cars smell alot like gas is their a way to prevent this

Are you running no cats? Cause if your running a catless exhaust it smells like gas.

No cats can be part of it but if it smells like straight gasoline its a whole other issue. Mine did the same thing. Replace the rubber fuel grommet that connects your gas tank neck into your actual tank. Then, change your rubber seal/gasket that connects to your gas tank lid. If it still smells like gas, your vapor canister under the hood on the passenger side could he bad as well.
