Will this make my airbag explode

I'm planning on unplugging the airbag control module because it won't stop beeping, because it needs a new bulb for the dash light. I've read that it won't deploy the airbag because all the sensors are hard wired to the controller in the steering wheel column. Just double checking thanks again

No it won't blow up in your face. However the cluster comes out in about 10 minutes and a new bulb isn't exactly expensive... If you're going to get rid of the airbag you might as well go to a 89-below column with the tilt steering and ability to run a wheel that does not suck.

Should I disable the system by detaching the negative and then the positive cables and letting the backup power deplete or does that not matter

Always unhook your battery, touch the cables and wait a half hour before messing with the airbags.
