You should have a rotating assembly balanced/blueprinted when you build a shortblock.

If you can afford it then it's a no brainier especially if you plan to go above the 500 mark you can buy balanced kits it just comes down to what you wanna spend

You can also piece it together and then take the whole shebang to a local speed shop to assemble and balance if it even needs it.

If I'm going to spend the time and money to build an engine, balancing isn't an option. It's just one of the things that you do to end up with a satisfactory final product. I believe that a properly balanced engine will also last longer.

If you are only spinning to 6k you PROBABLY don't need it but agreed why chance it. The one I'm building is going to be on a really tight budget (boss rods, basic forged pistons and stock cobra crank) but I'll still pay a shop to balance it all for me since I plan on spinning it past 7k.

Research, research, research, talk to ppl, drive other ppl's cars if you know them and they are cool with it etc...

Don't be that guy who just bolts on random assed parts and then cries about how its everyone else's fault but their own when they blow the whole thing up on the first hard pull lol.
