Convertible top molding problem

The black plastic trim from the top to the painted car on my 95 GT vert is separated on both sides from the car by 1/4". How do I fix this?

I may eventually replace the whole top because it has a small repair in it but this separation bothers me more

For some reason this thing refuses to let me just post the image
