1989 LX Distributor Upgrade ???

I have $475 in Americanmuscle.com gift cards so looking to make an upgrade without spending too much. Would i notice an increase in power by upgrading my stock motorcraft distributor with an msd or accel?

^ yup, with that money you could invest in upgrade the dist gear, relocate the TFI off the distributor like 94-95, that's bout it, get a motorcraft cap and rotor and have a more reliable setup.

If I had 475$, I'd get gears if not already done, best bang for buck!

As these guys said, the MSD is really just looking at improving the overall voltage/current of the factory system. If the factory system is in perfect shape, you're not going to see much if any gains from a more free flowing voltage/current. Now, if your factory unit has seen better days and is currently robbing you of power. That's another story!

I upgraded to the MSD unit in my H/C '95 GT. My reasoning for it was the factory unit was on it's way out and I wanted an ultra high quality piece to take its place. The MSD distributor mounted perfectly and haven't had any complaints!

So if you're looking for something else to use your gift cards with, tell us more about your Fox. List all of your current mods and we can judge the best move from there!

Shane

Do you have any Suspesnion mods? If not sfc' s, and lca's would be on the top of my list.

Only suspension mods at the moment are springs.

Which honestly did not lower the car a whole lot.

I say some lca's and subframe connectors. Wont add any power, but you'll notice a big difference around corners. And you'll hook up better too
