Help ID a vacuum item.

Hey, guys. Just made an account here because I know you can help me!
I've just installed a vacuum gauge in my car(I know, a vacuum gauge) to try and help me fix my idle issues. Anyways, I hooked it up to a metal nipple container thing and it didn't work. But I hooked it to my egr and now it works.

What was that metal container? It's below my cold air intake, it had a yellow/pink/tan plastic line going to it before I changed my vacuum lines.

Below CAI

Super close to alternator.

And it's not the smog pump air inlet one, either. It has a white line, not that one.

Let me see if I can get a picture of it. It's supposed to draw vacuum, I think. But it doesn't? Idk.

Canister only draws vacuum when the purge valve solenoid is open.
