4 Banger 351w Swap

Well I'm researching what Fox I want, and I've run into a bit of a predicament. My hopes and dreams are to get close to 800rwhp. Apparently a 302 cant do such a thing. So I'm thinking 351w, however if I'm doing a swap anyway, would it make sense to just buy the 4 cylinder Mustang to save a bit of money and do the swap to that? I'm going to be doing all the suspension anyway, but I'm not sure whats all different between the 2.

Let me know what you guys think. It doesn't sound like a 302 - 351 swap is all that hard though, didn't find much info on going straight from a 4 cyl to 351 though.

Well its going to be far from stock, but I do still want it to be streetable when its all said and done. I will be upgrading to tubular k-member and A arms, with coilovers all around, so If I went this route I'd probably do all the suspension before the engine swap just so the chassis is ready.

Yeah get a cheap roller/body. Now if you find an 87-93 gt with a blown engine, you migjt be able to get a good deal. For that power levels you'd have to totally rebuild and beef up the 8.8 in a Gt anyway.

Just gotta look what you want and what's in your price range, I didn't care about looks. So I went with a cheap beater.

Yeah I'll probably just get the 2.3L and build it, I'm also going to try calling around to salvage yards and see if they've got a stripped down one. That would probably be the best, It'd be kinda nice to drive it while I get everything else bought but oh well.

I found a 2.3L near me that runs and drives for 600 but its a convertible so thats a no go.

Well for that kind of power output your on track with building up the suspension but you'll have to have a whole new trans and a well built 8.8 rearwned. I would do 31 spline axles with c-clip eliminators. Sinse you have to do all that I'd just get a rear end out of a 94-95 GT and build that. A t-5 trans won't hold the power either. You'd probably want to go with a built c4 automatic. Dont forget the aluminum drive shaft also.
