Before I change to mass air

I have a 88 that I'm going to change over to a mass air set up. That being said I want to put a big cam in it but some only work with mass air cars why? Would the car have a idle problem? Couldn't I just adjust the idle until the conversion was done?

Speed density v. Mass air, google it for proper explanation. Sd is not set to calculate larger than stock airflows, so changing the motor too radically doesn't work properly...and no you can't just adjust the idle to fix it. There is only so much adjustment anyways, not enough to fix it.
