Question about price and car

Hello, I have a 2012 mustang but I always wanted a 1993 mustang gt standard notchback because of my birthyear and last year of the fox.... well anyways I found a 1993 notch with everything I wanted standard to! But I dont know what prices they range and what to look for if anything is wrong or if the frame is twisted.... apparently its an original 1993 lx standard with a 5.0 does seem to have some mods... and apparently has 89k miles.... he wants 4k here is a pic of it

If the car is what he says it is then 4k is probably a pretty good price. If that is his actual asking price then 3500 cash should get it. If your worried about a twisted frame I can tell you some points to check. Go under the car, where you put a jack, and check the pinch weld piece that the rocker panel is connected to. Your looking for clamp marks from where it would have been on a frame rack. Check the front and rear impact absorbers behind both bumpers and make sure they're not damaged. Then check the strut towers and radiator core support for damage by looking for bends or cracked paint. Cracked paint could be a sign that there is damage. I also like to tell the guy to leave the car cold for me when I get there. I'll check all the fluids and even pull the oil filter to look for metal flakes. That let's you know the condition of the motor. Some people say its excessive but I dont care. Then if all that checks out you can start it. With the engine cold you can hear engine noise better. All that's left is the test drive. Good luck man. Hope some of this helps...

All those things are great points to look for. I'd check the torque boxes as well to see if they have ever been fixed, or are beat up. I'm my area I'd expect that price to be fair, too. Depends on the mods, but a clean fox usually goes 2.5-4 here. And its hard to find an unmolested one too. I picked up mine (90' GT all stock with AOD and 96k original miles) for 1,800. He was asking 2.5, But the guy was desperate to sell.

Agreed!! A car looking like this one does would be about 5500 in my area. But 4700-4800 would get it. The guy I got my car from wanted 5k. It was WELL worth 5k!! But I managed to get it for 4300. This car has a 4600$ suspension kit on it. 1500 in the rear end. 5k or more in the motor and a 3500$ trans set up. I got a good deal!!

In my area people ask like 6k minimum for a fox like that I picked up a fully untouched 92lx with 99k for 4500 out here so 4 sounds like a fair price
