manual t5 oil change

Whats the easiest way to change the trans fluid in t5, i heard of removing the shifter and filling it that way but idk i never tried it. Let me know what you guys do with your t5's, also what fluid do you like to use? thanks.

There are two plugs on the passenger side, make sure you can break the top loose first before you drain out the bottom hole. I didn't want to break the seal/gasket on my shifter, so to refill I just pulled the shifter bezel off and ran a plastic tube from inside the car down into the top hole on the tranny and filled it that way... I thought it was fairly easy.

Regardless of what kind or type, I used synthetic simply because its a 91 GT. Its a 22-23 yr old car. Go with synthetic

Pennzoil Synchromesh or DexMerc III. Pull bottom plug, drain, re-install plug and DO NOT GORILLA OVERTIGHTEN IT OR YOU WILL CRACK THE CASE. Then fill to spec through the shifter, its the easiest way to put fluid in these things. Whenever I hear of someone buying one of those bottle pumps and filling through the fill hole I laugh. I believe the correct spec for a T-5 is 3.25 qts but I'm not totally 100% on that anymore as I have not had one for a good 10 years now so make sure you look it up.
