Hey everyone, I have a 1988 Mustang lx and I have a couple of issues. One of which is I still have that issue with my battery gauge where it bounces up and down quickly and as I drive faster it speeds up. We'll now on top of that It was began it drop randomly to a very low mark on the battery gauge and would jump up when I pushed the gas pedal down to rev the engine or drive away. Also when I drive at higher speeds starting at around 55 mph and I get around 60 mph I begin to feel a lot of heat through my vents as if it was from my engine. I mean it's really hot. It's not my heat that is on and my defogger isn't stuck on or anything. Please help?
For the battery issue I would get a voltmeter and hook it up to your battery on the 12v setting. Start the car, and measure the voltage it's putting out. If it's below 14, or 13 at the least then change the alternator. Sounds like a charging issue
Not to sure about the heat. Sounds like the vents are stuck open

I forgot to mention that I upgraded to the 130amp alternator and replaced it twice and also replaced my battery and had a load test performed. Everything turned out to be perfect. ..
People put higher amp alts in there car and usually miss something. I'm sure you just got a wire or something in the wrong place. I've never personally put one in my self or I'd be more of a help.
Just seems like a lot of people that have issues with alternators are the ones with aftermarket ones cause the wiring is different.
