The cam part I'm not sure about yet. I want to talk to my engine guy and see what will work the best for the over all build. Injectors. Pistons. Cam. Lifters etc. I want to be around 400-450 rwhp. Everyday street car

You will need either a power adder or a stroker to have that kinda power.

Good steal on those heads.

What can you suggest that I do to get that kinda power from start to finish using these heads and intake? Any input would be greatly appreciated

I would turn around and sell the BBK intake, its not very good but you can probably turn it into something better like a RPM II. The heads are great, for a cam get in touch with Ed Curtis at www.flowtechinduction.com for a custom spec'd cam.

400-450 to the wheels isn't happening unless you are doing a 331/347 high compression stroker or a power adder.

When I sold my welds to a guy on criagslist. I mentioned getting a bbk intake. He said worst idea ever, they actually had a recall on them for leaking or bad ported runners or something.

They are the worst 5.0 intake you can buy minus one of the Chinese Performer copies. And even then...

Look into a RPMII or a Holley Systemax both a great intakes.

BBK not so much.

Also good info on Calling Ed Curtis as a custom cam will really bring that combo together.

You want the RPM II, there is a Performer, a Performer RPM and a Performer RPM II. At least that's how it was when I was still big into the pushrods a few years ago.

I'm not saying YOU specifically but hopefully you can sell it for $300-$400 because $800-$900 is all the heads are worth used.

Check out the corral classifieds and see if you can get a set of Twisted Wedge heads in the $800 range. Those plus a F cam and a ported GT40 on a 306 should see you at 310-320 to the wheels easy.

Oh, and as for the OP with the Keith Black pistons. You have to WATCH THE HELL OUT, for the upper ring gap. If you don't gap it to THEIR spec (not an OEM spec) you WILL break a piston.

That's exactly what I was aiming for was a little over 300. Is the tw really the best by far head to get? Everyone recommends them but they are pretty pricy for being used? Also would this be time to upgrade the throttle body? Will be going with 24s is that good or bad? And bigger maf?

24s is fine for what you are doing. I'd put on a 70mm TB since the TB opening on the intake is 70mm.

IMHO the TW heads are easily the best heads to get. You'll hear some ppl who like AFRs better. I prefer the TW as they are in between an AFR 165 and 185, are cheaper and have a ton of "meat" on them if you ever want to port them out for a bigger motor.

Alright thank you sir, I will keep an eye out for them when I have the money. What are your thoughts on gt40 heads? The aluminum one on eBay are like 600 new?
