Hey dudes,
I keep on having a problem making a good seal,
Ive tried with RTV on its own.
Ive tried with an oem gasket on its own.
Ive tried with oem gasket and a bit of RTV.

Can someone give me their thermostat gasket 101, thanks

Well first off you gotta make sure that the surfaces are clean, flat and in good shape.

Secondly what water neck are you using?

Third I have had luck with just the gasket or just rtv but never both at the same time.

Make sure you let it cure the correct time.

Then make sure all surfaces are very clean and straight.

Make sure the tstat doesn't move around, main reason for leaks.

Do not over tighten......not sure of the torque specs right now.
