Most auto parts stores sell a thing called nite-shades specifically for tinting. I used it and things came out great, but after a few years in the florida sun, they started to look crappy. So I got the plastic covers this time around.

I have 2 coats of vht night shades with 3 coats of clear over them and it's amazingly shiney and very durable. Tape off your trim on the lights, wet sand with 1800 grit, dry them put however many coats of vht on (over 5 coats and cops will bust your chops). Then after those coats dry spray some two part clear coat over the night shades. I found it easy and it came out so good people think I got someone to do it professionally. Also once the clear drys after a few hours wet sand it very lightly and polish it with miguires ultimate rubbing compound and it takes any imperfections or runs out of the paint.

Night shades is not something that will peel off like plasti dip no. If you don't like it and want to remove it you will need to sand it off. Also... this is not just spray and go. You have to really do a good prep, use light coats and wet sand between coats to do it right. There are a ton of write ups on how to use it online.

And also if you are talking about plasti dipping the actual LIGHTS and not the trim... no dude.
