Aod issues. AGAIN.

So for starters when my cars cold it will shift into 3rd at 3000 rpms. Then at the stop sign at the top of my street it will not shift back down till 600 rpms and then stumble a little bit until it shifts down. Well now when I drive to get on the highway it will take about 5 seconds to get into overdrive, and then I slowly have to hit the gas to drive it in overdrive. If I barely hit it to hard on the highway it slips. Thinking the cable needs adjustment, or hoping it does anyways.

Rebuilt? My 2000 Expedition has the OD light blinking and wouldn't shift into 4th or 5th. I did a fluid change and works now. The codes I pulled would also have applied to a tranny rebuild. I got lucky.

Yeah I did a proper flush on it about a year ago when I get the new used tranny off rock auto. It's been fine, I put a new throttle body on it about a month ago and it's just progressively getting worse. I'm going g to try and adjust the TV cable. It's got enough fluid and everything

Either the tv cable is not adjusted quite right (it can be a PITA to get right) or your valve body and/or O/D band is slipping. I got fed up with my AOD and used it as an excuse to swap in a manual. Lol

Yeah hoping it's the TV cable. I might end up doing that but there's to much crap to do for that

It's getting ready to take a dump. The swap to manual is easy. The part that takes the longest is the pedals. If you plan on doing the swap you can do the pedals now so when it finally dies you will only have a transmission swap to do.

86-98 maybe thru 04 im not sure on that. The pedals can be from a 4,6, or 8 cyl 5spd car. Clutch cable, 86-95gt 10.5" flywheel, complete clutch set with the pilot bearing. 86-93 5spd shifter boot upper and lower. If money is tight you can use the automatic driveshaft until you find a 5spd shaft. The automatic transmission mount will work but the bolts are all the way back on the mount. You can use it to get by also. When you get your 5spd transmission, make sure to match the bellhousing to the transmission(same year) 86-93v8 match and 94-95v8 match. Don't cross the years due to the imput shaft is longer on the 94-95s and will bind against the clutch. Two plugs for the automatic transmission lines at the radiator. You will need to reroute your speedometer cable. There is a grommet next to it where it comes through the firewall. The clutch cable goes through where the speedometer cable does. You will need the plastic gear for the speedometer for the 5spd. The automatic gear is longer. And you can use the automatic computer, I never liked them due to a slight stmble coming off of idle. That's up to you.

Forgot about the flexplate behind the flywheel needs to be changed and your starter is the same. When you get the 5spd try to get the wiring harness attached to it if possible. I can't fully remember but I believe you will have a unused plug by the transmission.

I may have missed something, it's been awhile. Get the pedal and speedometer cable swap out of the way and the rest is cake.

Yes, pedal is the hardest part for sure. The rest is basically a clutch job. There are tons of write ups out there on how to do it. I can't remember the site i used, but I bought everything I needed for around $700. Spent a weekend and did the job.

I found a list of what I needed in one of the write ups on the swap. Then I scouted Craigs list for all the parts. I lucked out and found a guy who was selling the stuff he collected to do the same swap, because he had sold his car. Also, I ended up using my auto drive shaft, tranny mount (had to break some of the welds the re weld in a new position as the mounting bracket for the auto was different than the manual), and auto computer. Its been in there for almost two years with no issues.

So I found this on ebay. It's 1,700. Supposedly a rebuilt transmission but the guy can't fully prove it.

Looks good, might want to get a shipping quote and check on the mileage/warranty.

Kool think it doesn't come with warranty. Thinking of making life simple and getting a rebuilt aod with a stall converter and upgraded overdrive band and servo.
