Turbo? Or no

I have a 302 with trickflow heads, e303, 24lbs injectors, gt40 intakes, pullies, 255 LPH fuel pump, hardened pushrods, 1.7 roller rockers and was wondering if an ON3 performance turbo would be good and reliable?

Yes it would be a great upgrade but I would do plenty of homework prior to splurging.

Personally I wouldn't because of the sound that a turbo makes but if you want to add horsepower the cheap way than a turbo is a nice rendition. Personally I would like to build my car up and put a supercharger on it instead.

I've heard mixed stuff on the ON3 turbo headunits. Now the rest of the kit should be fine, but I'd upgrade that headunit (and of course all the other supporting mods). And if your bottom end is stock, you'll easily max out the hp of the block.

For a 5.0 pushrod, just get a used Vortech S trim kit for $1500 and call it a day.

We'll it's a free turbo kit but I was just seeing if It'll be fine to put it on and run a reliable 4-6 psi

Someone is giving you one free? Nice...

Research the On3 stuff. The actual piping and headers are good. The WG/BOV/Headunits have had some QC issues in the past and are cheap chinese units. What a lot of people do is get an On3 hotside/coldside and then supply their own headunit/bov/wg.

For free, definitely! Lol
I assume he's ran it with no issues, and you can trust him. On 4-6 psi you'll have a very stout ride.

The On3 turbo kits seem to have a lot of mixed reviews. Most people that I've seen are happy with them. Although it's not uncommon for a compressor blade to fail and wipe out an engine.

For your situation, you're really lucky that a friend is hooking you up. If I were you, than I'd use the On3 kit, but upgrade the turbo to a Precision or Garrett. Then you'll have a very reliable setup and be completely safe on 4-6 psi.

BTW- you'll also need 42lb injectors or larger for 6psi. Just keep that in mind too!

Like I said the "On3" turbo is basically a slightly higher quality ebay turbo at least from what I have seen. If I was to get one, it would be just the tubing and headers and then I'd supply my own stuff. A good upgrade is a Master Power MP70 turbo and a Tial BOV/WG.
