Blowing fuse number 4

Hey everyone. I have a 86 gt and I keep blowing fuse number 4. It happened last year and I lost all my dash lights and driving lights except my headlights. I changed the fuse and Everythjng was fine. Now just this past weekend it did it again and blows all the way up to a 30 amp fuse. I'm guessing I have a short possibly? Any Info would be great

Had same issue on my 90, traced it back and found the shorts. I believe it's supposed to be a 15 amp fuse. And if you ran anything bigger you could of made the issue worse by allowing more flow. But check your fuse diagram and only use what's called for

Are those the wires directly under the dash by the steering wheel

Yes, I had to unbolt the fuse box and just followed the wires behind fuse #4 and led up to this mess all the way up to the light switch.

They were melted together and wires where touching, it was from putting a 20 amp fuse by accident, the 15amp fuses I had were blue, I accidentally put in a blue fuse (thinking it was a 15 amp because of the color but turned out to be 20) and before i knew it, 10 minutes into the drive and started smoking under the dash lol and this was the outcome
