Grinding sound?

First time poster on what seems to save my wallet everyday hahah. Anyways to the problem at hand. So going down the highway today in my 88 I noticed a weird sound resonating from the engine compartment. It seems to only happen when I depress the pedal to accelerate or maintain a speed. But when I let off it stops. It sound like a few examples here to get the best description. One it could sound like a dry bearing like a grinding sound. Two a possible hole in an air hose but like if you were to have a cut in it and move it and it makes the sound randomly. Another sound it could relate to it like a dental pick scratching glass in a way. It's not too loud. I know this is a challenging question but who knows it could be a very easy one to figure out. But I have no idea what it could be... Any takers on this conundrum??
