Harmonic Balancer fell off

I took my fox body for a drive the other day but it was cut short when the harmonic balancer fell off. The moment I started the car I knew something was wrong. The car was shaking alot and was very noticable at stops. I also heard the noise of the power steering clearley. The noise was getting louder then I heard a few a clanks and saw something skid on the street in my side mirror. I picked the balancer up and managed to drive home. After the balancer fell the steering wheel became extremley stiff.
I do remember messing with the crank bolt and loosening it but i never that it would cause.
So my question is, is this a serious issue or do I just replace the balancer. Also, will the steering problem be fix once I install a new balancer.
Any help is appreciated

Not sure how you were able to drive home....but since you were able to you can probably just replace the balancer.
The pulley & all had to come off with it so you had no serpentine belt turning anything.
You must have been real close to home.

Belt wasn't turning the power steering pump so I would think so.

it fell off? Did you install it yourself? I just switched to under drive pulleys and the torque sequence has me sketched out. How did you torque yours?

What were you doing "messing with the crank bolt"?
