Relay.

In the process of cleaning and painting the engine bay on my 87 GT I found a relay mounted on the passenger side about over the tire with the insulation on the wires melted off. No other signs of anything wrong so I imagine something shorted in the relay and got the wires hot. Problem is I cant find any info on what the relay is for and the part numbers on the relay are faded. Any on have an idea what the relay is for so I can find a new one.

Are you sure, because the groove on the right side of the relay isn't on any A/C relays I can find online. Doesn't that mean my harness wont plug in to them?

Your absolutely right. Maybe there is different connections for different year's or car's. Where do you find these diagrams? Would be helpful in putting things back together and for identification of part's.

The diagram I posted is from the 88 Mustang EVTM which looks identical to my 89 EVTM.
I saved a link to a zip folder a few years ago for the 87 EVTM and I'm not sure how to post the link because it goes directly to the zip folder and asks if I want to open it or save it. The folder is 67 MB so I can't post the it here.

This is for the 88 EVTM

No, that's all I've been finding. Every thing is the same except the groove on the oppisite side from the clip that holds the harness on. Tried to take some better
pictures.

Unless the relay has that groove my harness won't plug it to it. Found one, but it say's it's a starter relay. Has numbers that match one part on the ole relay, 11433. I have read that some of these relays are interchangeable. Like Fuel pump and convertible top relays, and A/C cutoff relays. 20 amp.
