Rear axle moves left and right.

Recently I let my friend drive my car. And while I was behind him driving his car. I noticed that when he would accelerate the axle would pop out to the right. And swing back to the left when he would let go of the gas.. Does anyone know what it could be.. Any help is appreciated thanks!

My 1st thought is Worn out / Cracked / Dry Rotted Control Arm Bushings.

Replace all the bushings and install a Panhard bar.

You can get a complete set of Bushings for about $100 on Ebay. Not sure about a Pan Hard Bar.

The Panhard bar is amazing. It keeps the axle centered at all times. Came stock on 05+ nothing before that. I highly recommend it. One of the best things I've done to my 01.

Did you have to do any modifying to install the panhard bar?

Well you want subframe connectors first, other than that no. You just need a helper and a heavy dude drill bit lol, have to drill a few holes into the frame for it. Not too bad.

You can get sub frame connectors on Ebay for about $100 also. They also sell them in a set with upper & Lower Control Arms for around $170. They're not Top of the Line...but they work fine as I've used them in the past on my 04 Mustang.
4 or 5 Lug shouldn't make a difference as you're not dealing with Brakes, Rotors or anything like that. Just check your Bushings on your Upper Rear Control arms to see if they are Oval Shaped or Round so you order the right ones. They make them both ways.

I would put the car up on a lift to check it out first.

Could be a lot going on under there.
