Another AODE Shifting Problem

Hello all!

I've recently acquired a 1995 GT that seems to be in pretty good condition other than a couple of problems. The first problem is that it shifts oddly.

When cold it won't shift into gear. After about 30 seconds to a minute it will. If you rev the car for a bit it will shorten this duration. For the next few hours (4-5) it can be turned off and goes until gear just fine.

It shifts upwards into gear fine 1-OD but downshifting seems to happens very noticibly. Enough that coming to stop signs make me put the car into neutral more times than not. This happens regardless of cold.

The tranny fluid seems to be at the proper level, red and supposidly was changed last year.

The car has about 108k miles on it.
I've read quite a bit but nothing that I could find seemed to match my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you
-Mat

It sounds like you might need to have that transmission rebuilt. Its failure to go into gear when it's cold is indicative of the transmission not building enough fluid pressure.
Take it to a reputable transmission shop in your area for a diagnosis.

I'm aware that it might be due for a rebuild just wanted to see if it were something simple like a sensor or something. Maybe valvebody?

And why might it be vss? Abs is there anything I could do to test that?

Should I just change the fluid and filter in the the tranny and tc? I'm not sure if the tc fluid was changed recently.

Thank you for all the help!
