Ford 302 build problem

I was putting in my last piston into my ford 302 bored .20 over and i chipped the 2nd groove piston ring. I had a set of engine pro race rings:43m 5508 020 that my machine shop sent me when i sent them the block. Theyre closed today and i dont know who carries them. I just need the single set but ill get the whole set if i have to. Thanks guys, hoping to crank this beast this weekend.

Unsure what you are asking but that does kinda suck. How did it happen, the ring compressor just jack itself up? Either way, I'm sure you can order a single ring but for sure don't run it with a chipped one.

What is the rest of the build? Post pics if you have em. Always interested in a pushrod build.

I agree with and if the ring is damaged don't use it.

Heres a before the disassembly, block out on stand, piston #3 bent rod, gt40 heads, scorpion roller rockers, i had to cut out and replace the metal cowl panel infront of windshield because hood flew up and crushed it. Pollished the virtech v3 supercharger, block back from machine shop bored .20 over, forged rods and pistons with arp rod studs, forged crank and new cam, and lifters.

Im definatley not gonna use the broken ring, im gonna try calling the machine shop to see if they can send me another piston ring set for the one piston that I need #7. I cant wait to see what kind of horses this thing will put out. I bought the car and it was misfiring on 2 cylinders one of the cylinders had a bad injector the other one turned out to be a bent rod so I sent the block out to the machine shop to get a board 20 over because the cylinder wall was scratched from the bent rod. I ended up ordering all forged internals, arp rod bolts and low compression pistons for the supercharger that I had. Someone told me that I'm going to need the car tuned but I don't know how I would go about doing that. Thanks again guys, i will be posting more pics as i progress.

Looks good so far.

What type of tuning are you running....FMU or a custom chip?

FMU is a fuel management unit and its kind of a workaround vs getting a custom tune. Much better to go to a competent dyno tuner once done. I would not drive it until you do honestly. I'd only ever start them up to check for leaks/issues before shutting down and towing to the tuner.

So I almost done with my supercharged 5.0 build. As I was torqing one of the last rocker bolt broke. A week later I went to a junk yard in my area and found a ford 302 and started to remove the valve covers and found some roller rockers already installed. Lucky me, so I took the whole set. I noticed the outermost rockers where grinded down abit. Guess the previous owners old valve covers were too small. Later I installed them in my heads and they look great!! Last things need now are the stiffening rods for my oil pan that go between the bolts and the actual oil pan. Can't wait to finally drop it in after 5 months of getting parts together. Will post more pics as I go.Click image for larger version
