Hard shifts

Could a bad TPS cause my car to shift hard? I have an auto 95 GT and usually it will shift hard into 2nd, and sometimes stutters and feels like it's very hesitant to accelerate. Swapping a TPS is relatively cheap and an easy job, so would this be a good place to start?

Just went on AllData, there's an entire thread about shudders above 35mph+ and it says it's caused by failed transmission fluid. Previous owners of my car seem to have done no maintenance whatsoever so this doesn't surprise me. Luckily I work at a shop so I'll get a discount on a tranny flush and new filter.

Trans fluid on a car of that age with shoddy maintenance honestly should have been done as soon as you got it home. Oil/coolant/PS fluid/brake bleed and diff fluid too.

Every fluid has been changed on it other than the tranny fluid. Synthetic blend oil every 3 months religiously, spark plugs were done, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the MAF, the whole 9 yards. Haven't gotten around to doing the Tranny service due to other problems (having to replace the steering column, battery, etc) but now that it's running well it's time to get the tranny service out of the way
