I'm a constant craigslist shopper for projects of all sorts. Dirt bikes, four wheelers, snowmobiles, tractors- anything with an engine. I came across a 1986 5.0 hatch that has seen it's better days. Structurally wise- mint. Rust/rot wise- mint. It even runs pretty clean! It just needs paint, an ENTIRE interior. Needs a fresh suspension (bushings are original to the car. They're pretty bad) and an annual "tune up". What route should I go with this? All performance race car... Or another show/reliable car? I already own an '86 that is a reliable daily.
Check it out:
It's up for $800 OBRO. I do not see it as an $800 car. But for what it is & the fact that it's all original 45k miles engine with a lot of maintenance paperwork, I want it. Any opinions?
My work allows me to use the shop Saturdays after 12 till Sunday at 9 pm as long as I lock the doors after i leave (understandable). Street legal race car particularly strikes me as a good idea. It's not all too expensive to build it that way either. It's expensive, don't get me wrong. But it could be worse.
