I did have one, and I did some of the suspension first. Lowering springs, subframe connectors, and tubular control arms. Handled like a new car. Then I put a vortech in her

I put a hurst billet plus short throw,up grade to msd cap/rotor, wires, new plugs, /tune up, soon to be msd 6al-2, for better spark, a rev limiter and 2 step. A fuel gauge on the rail. Just a few things to make it run better. Next would be bushings, suspension. My route is to make a

Having had a 88 GT when it first came out, I found the best things to do with an older one, is chassis and suspension reinforcements, before adding power. Check the torque boxes, and the rear upper control arm attaching points to the floor of the car, and subframe connectors, before adding power.

If I could go back to when I first got mine I would of just immediately done the 351 swap. Easy power and tons of room to grow

1st thing ........ upgrade those factory brakes.
If you can't stop it then there isn't any reasons for the mods mentioned above!

If I had that mustang the first things I would do is go through the brakes (completely), bushings, suspension parts and chassis. I would get her road worthy and tip top.

Spend countless nights wondering which direction I wanted to spend all my money.

351 swap would be the foundation for sure but that is just the very tip of the iceberg.

I would make sure its reliable first and foremost. Like, daily driver reliable. I would go through and fix/replace any little issue on the car.

First aftermarket thing I would do is add a stage 2 cam to get that awesome sound of a cammed 5.0 and a little more power.

Then I would focus on handling until it was auto cross quality.

Then nitrous.
Then get some more CC heads.

"Stage 2" cam won't do **** with stock heads and likely won't clear the valve reliefs. Been there, done that.

Best bet for a Fox is to go to a jy, yank some gt40s out of an exploder take them to a shop for a quick clean/valvejob/springs and swap them on with the exploder intake. Stock tune will not have to be touched. Longtubes and full exhaust while heads are off. Then suspension all over, brakes, chassis bracing, other basic bolt ons and finally a vortech and a tune.

That is the budget way to do it and hope the t5 trans holds. For a 351 swap... Might as well do a 408 which is going to be $6-$8k for the motor alone lol.

460 foxes are cool as hell. Be prepared to spend $25k+ on the build alone though.

Why would you need to? Unless you are doing an all out drag car. A mild 408 will do 500/500 on pump gas all day and it'll have a ridiculous powerband.

Honestly nowadays the Coyote swaps are becoming real popular in everything and IIRC On3 Performance has a twin turbo kit for the Coyote modified to fit in the fox if you call them direct you can get it. That's probably the way to go with a turbo app.

This is what I will do if I ever get another pushrod. And that would only be a 94/95 Cobra. Usually will be much better kept than their GT counterparts and come with a set of heads/intake that actually flows a half decent amount of air (200 cfm stock).

Then yes, a used Vortech in good shape from a forum classified for $1500, bolt ons and a tune and 425-450 safe rwhp all day and 24mpg on the highway.

I'm in the same boat... About 3 weeks ago I picked up a bone stock lx convertible. This is fox #12 for me in my life but I'm still very undecided which direction I want to go. It has been a long time since I have seen a fox still have smog pump, air silencer, all cats and even stock mufflers lol. It is completely untouched and only has 71k miles on it. Gorgeous and a vert. I will say that fox verts have a front and rear bumper that were separated at birth and are forever trying to get back together. About the first thing I did on any fox I ever had was subframes if it didn't have them already.

That's because it was a modular and a B headed 4V to boot. The pushrods are nice and cheap though, honestly I like the 94/95 cars, best of both worlds and the 94/95 computer that ppl always complain about is an easy fix.
