Fixing/replacing a headliner

Has anybody tried using the roll of headliner material from Latemodel Restoration and fixing a headliner? It requires that you use your old board and I'm just wondering how difficult this is. The roll is much cheaper than whole new headliner.

(This fix is on a 92 GT with a sunroof)

Thanks

If you could get your old board out without it tearing so it could be layed on the floor or table then stretch the headliner fabric on it,that might be worth a shot.If I couldn't get the old board out I wouldn't attempt it because its gonna be a pita to try working with uncut fabric over your head in a confined area inside the car. That board gets fragile after being 20+ years old,so the chances of it coming down without tearing is slim. You also have to keep in mind that there are several cuts you'll need to make for the dome light, sunvisors, etc and doing that accurately is another tough job when you're doing it over your head like that.Laying down carpet that's not molded or precut is a pita too and you've got the luxury of working on it while its underneath you,so imagine how difficult it can be while working over your head.I guess if you've got several buddies that can help it might work out for ya,but if not,the price difference between the two choices will be slim after the $100 worth of cussing and sweating you'll do.I guess you could use thumbtacks to hold it in place while you cut and stretch the fabric out. You've got more patience than I do
