4.6 into 90 fox

I have a 1990 notch roller and I have a 1996 Thunderbird no longer need the t bird so I am tossing around the idea of putting it in. Attempt or steer clear?

lots of modfox write ups. easiest if you have a whole donor car. electronics, harness, fuel, driveline etc... t bird will probably be ok for this.

You can always do that too. Swap in the modular and then a normal carb conversion. Fuel rails and everything should bolt right up. You will need to find a T-45 or 3650 transmission though, or a Mustang automatic and a controller or MVB. Or a T-5 mated to a Quicktime housing...

Any T-45, any 01-04 T3650 any T-56 with a modular bellhousing and a T-5 will also do it with the Quicktime scattershield. TKOs also bolt to that and have their own bells but TKOs shift like truck transmissions. Any 96-04 4R70W/4R75W will also bolt to them.

Easiest one in this sort of swap would be a 96-98 T-45 since they have the provision for a mechanical speedo which the Fox has. I'd get a rebuilt one from T45source.

Wouldnt I be able to use the 4r70w that's in the Thunderbird? I'm not to worried about the speedo because there's nothing there anyways. The car is basically gutted.

You know what, conversations are so popular these days, especially with the quantity of Foxbodys dwindling to get parts from.If someone had some money set aside and wanted to start a new business venture, conversions would be a good money making thing. You could buy wrecked modular powered Mustangs, take everything needed for a 100% complete conversion out of the Mustang and sell it as a complete diy package. That would help the guy ,that's timid about the swap or not knowledgeable enough to know what parts in total are needed ,get a complete swap done with 0 hassles.Unfortunately I don't have the funds to start this venture.

Tailshaft is longer. Mustang has a special short tailshaft.

There is a shop in South Carolina doing this very thing. Actually talked to them the other day about a terminator swap for mine

If you are going to do a Terminator swap, find a wrecked Terminator. That way you have a complete straight swap and all the parts on hand, no surprises or having to hunt down random parts. Otherwise, just 4V swap whatever you have with a built one or just build the 2V. Built 2V with ported heads/stock intake/blower cams will do 600+ with a S trim easy. No need for 4V and the added weight/valvetrain. Also the 2V sounds NASTY with cams almost like an old school pushrod where the 4V never will sound as good.

Going to be looking at 10-15 for the termi swap...really depends on how extensive you want to go. I was considering swapping dash, seats, the whole nine yards

$15k to swap in a Termi? Lol that is ****ing ridiculous. I mean I understand what the labor costs and getting the parts but at that price just sell your car and buy a Terminator for $20-$24k. Or a Coyote.

If you have a really good body and want to stay fox it would be worth it. A clean termi is rising in cost every year and all of the parts are really expensive. I really thought for all of the parts and labor it wasn't that bad. 12-15k turn key seems realistic

4.6 into 90 fox

if you figure a t56 alone is 3k new without anything termi motor is 6-8. That turn key price really isn't that bad when you add it all up. Now obviously there are other ways and cheaper ways to get that power level. But I would love to have my convertible termi swapped now I probably won't ever do it but it would be badass
