Dilemma..

So I'm thinking I have a short. My dome light is stuck on and I think that's why the previous owners battery was dead. I unhooked battery and rehooked It and light stayed on. Light dimmer switch does nothing. Also just purchased a brand new battery but car hesitates to start. I know the battery has a charge but the terminals are messed up. Do you think it's the terminals or the alternator?
Thanks!

Just take it somewhere and have them test ur battery and alternator it's free. Then go from there, if one or both are bad change them out and see if the light works properly

Sounds like a battery issue..check your terminals make sure they are tight, even pull them off and scrape inside loop of the terminals to get a smoother connection. Check for corrosion. After that start looking elsewhere, ignition switch, starter, maybe even spark plugs but neither of those will cause your light to stay on which is y I'm leaning towards your battery

Battery is brand new. Just replaced terminals as well. Car still won't start and battery light is still on. Has to be alternator.

I would check out the door switchs for the dome light issue. For the hesitation are you sur you have good connections at battery?
