ALTERNATOR

I am having issues with my 95 5.0. when I come to a stop my volt gauge drops and my lights dim and blower motor slows down. I didn't know if it might be the regulator or if I should just go ahead and put a whole alternator on it. My 2000 Explorer does the same thing. Thanks in advance.

Look for somebody near you who rebuilds them. 35$ to have it done here. Much cheaper than buying a "new" rebuilt one and just as effective.

Also make sure the cables are good and your grounds are even better.

Additional grounds are a good idea too.Read the link below and see what a bad/weak ground can cause.

I will look at all of my cables. Thank you. Now I know this is off topic here but I am needing some opinions. I am looking at trading off my explorer for a tahoe. Both are around 150k. Known issues with explorer, valve cover gaskets leak quite bad, read suspension sages, losing coolant but can't find a leak, ABS light on, a/c not cold. Now the Tahoe I don't know because I have not had time to look at it well, but from the reviews I have read online the Tahoe is a better choice to keep till 250k +. Don't want to start chevy vs ford stuff just looking for personal opinions. Thanks.

A poorly maintained anything will not last so go with what you really like as I am 99.79% sure the Tahoe has it's problems

What kind of fuel mileage loss/gain are you thinking between the Tahoe & Explorer?? I think the Tahoe looks better, especially if you throw some nice rims on it,limo tint the windows & lower it ever so slightly. This is funny, but We've got some black, silver & GREY drug task force Tahoe's here in Nashville that have the things listed above and they look pretty sick,as long as one of them isn't behind you running your tag #.

So, we decided to trade off the Explorer. The Tahoe does have a few issues but dealer should take care of them. The 6 disc cd changer has a problem and I believe it needs a MAF. Other then that this thing is much better then the Explorer. The ride, room, dvd player so my kids don't fight, and the seat are like a Lazy Boy recliner running down the highway. The fuel economy I am not really worried about because no matter how I drove the Explorer it would only get about 13ish so as long as the Tahoe gets better I will be happy. Thanks.
