Clutch

Does anyone know why my car doesn't want to or is a hassle to go into gears?

New clutch? Old clutch?
What kind of cable?
What kind of adjuster?
Is it smooth when the car is off?

We need a ton more info here............

It's an old clutch from as far as I know of. I believe stock I haven't switched anything out yet. I'm not sure. Yeah it's smooth when the car is off.

Is there a burning smell? Which gears are hard to shift? 1st? Reverse? It could be a number of things associated with your clutch so explain what makes u think ur clutch is going bad

1st and 2nd are the most difficult. I kind of have to force it there and reverse at times.

Pushing the clutch to the floor to start is normal. Is ur clutch spongey?

Do u feel the tension from your clutch cable? Or are u pushing the clutch in more for it to engage. Kind of like when ur brakes go out. I'm thinking your synchros/shift forks are screwed. Have you checked ur trans fluid lately?

Check yours fluids just in case. If u have a stock cable, adjuster and cable you should be able to push up on the clutch it'll self adjust. But I'm sticking with your synchros. Maybe even worn clutch disc but u won't know for sure until u get under there. Do the easy things first, adjust ur cable and check fluids. But it looks like your gonna need a replacement clutch

It got really tough to put into 1st and 2nd and he had to force it in but he found this loose nut on the clutch cable and adjusted it and it all went away

Riding rough? Gears sticking or grinding? The clutch can mess up the tranny if abused or ignored. Synchros, pilot or T/O bearings. Clutch fork etc can all start tranny issues. Even ur clutch cable if tension isn't where it should be. Work ur way from under ur dash to ur tranny. Start with the clutch cable, quad and firewall adjuster. If problem persist drop ur tranny and look at ur bearings , clutch plate pressure plate and flywheel. Idk what you mean by its still riding rough. More info will help. Specific noises, grinds, sticking gears, soft clutch...need symptoms
