Transmission Question

Just got myself another 2.3 mustang. This time a manual. So my question is. They say the 1993 trans is a T5 just weaker from the 5.0. So does that mean I can buy a GT shifter and work on mine? I'm planning sooner or later a 5.0 swap. Just looking to play with this while I have it.

The 4 banger trans is much weaker. The shifters are all the same regardless of what t5 it is tho.

I would either buy just a shorter shifter handle & leave the rest of your shifter assembly in place or buy an aftermarket shifter(Hurst, pro 5.0,Steeds Tri-Ax)that provides positive stop bolts, shorter throws & a firm feel(no sloppy feel like stock)goes from 2nd to 3rd gear almost by itself,no forcing it into gear. You would also be able to transfer this shifter from the current 4 cylinder t5 you're running over to the future 5.0 t5, once you buy one to mate up with the future 5.0 engine.A aftermarket shifter feels 150% better than the stock shifter.

I would buy a used Tri Ax for $100. Cheap, high quality and if you miss 3rd with a Tri Ax you just plain suck at shifting lol.
