I am trying to change my throttle body cable and i cant get my hand underneath to reach the cable that is connected to my gas pedal. Is there anyway to get to it? Like taking off the dash or what?
If youre a bigger guy, removing the seat will make it a little easier on you,but the seat doesnt have to be removed to do the job.The best way to get access to the cable is by using a ratchet & 13mm socket to remove the 2 nuts that are holding the pedal assembly to the firewall. After the nuts are removed, pull the pedal assembly away from the firewall. The cable will have more slack,at the pedal,if you get an assistant to hold or rig something up to hold the throttle blade in the WOT position while you remove the cable end from the pedal.Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the cable retaining clip off of the cable end, pull the cable free from the pedal, then you can move to the engine bay & pull the throttle cable through the firewall and into the engine bay.
Pop the cable loose from the throttle body linkage by prying between both parts with a large flathead screwdriver then remove the two bolts that are holding the throttle cable bracket to the egr spacer then remove the entire cable assembly from the car & install the new cable assembly.
