GTS Project

So I've slowly been working on my New Edge project and trying to find a Fox for my girlfriend. Then I came across a 1995 GTS for sale locally. Aside from the attrocious paint job, the car is in incredible shape and only has 94K original miles. Given that it's a Michigan car, the rust was unbelievably low.

Thankfully the owner is a fellow disabled veteran. We haggled a little and eventually settled on $1250 for the car and a desktop computer I had taking up space. So here goes my dream project, an SN95 chassis with a 302. Can't wait to get it in the garage.

Never knew GTS's had an auto option. See the previous owner added a rear spoiler and power windows to it. Good find! Rare bird too.

Pick your poison.

1500 of them had the AODE supposedly. The other 4500 were manual. Power windows, locks, cruise and other items were option packages. So essentially this one was purchased with both option packages.

Yeah...the previous owner went a little overboard. I will be repainting it the original green, removing the wing, and keeping the exterior primarily stock. I want to stay true to what the car originally was, while adding things like a rear seat delete to keep with the spirit of the car (weight reduction).

Interesting. Learned something new, thank you. I've been thinking of making a 94 Cobra as my race car, later on down the road. But I look forward to the restoration of that GTS.

There?s one of those for sale locally. If I could still drive manual, I?d be all over it. Always wanted a 95 or 03 Cobra.

Drove the car over to the girlfriends place and dropped it off. The 2.73 gearing has to go and soon or I?ll lose my mind. After I parked the car, I noticed the driver?s side front is sitting way too low.

So first thing first is:
+ Oil change
+ Fuel filter
+ Spark plugs
+ Air filter
+ Shocks
+ Springs
+ Caster-camber plates
+ Other miscellaneous parts (tie rods, ball joints, etc)

My goal for this winter is to make it reliable. I won?t get to the performance side of things until later on. I want to get it back to its original green with black interior first.

Nice find! And auto too ftw. Get the auto rebuilt with 4R guts and drop a 408 in there. Will be a 10 second street car that'll make 500ft lbs at 2800rpm.

Thank you. Luckily, Lentech isn't too far of a drive. So I may hand it over to them to be built properly. I haven't thought too far into the engine build. I'm going to do piston rings and main bearings right off the bat. Eventually I will do an intake, cam, GT40X heads, and a full exhaust. I'll give that a drive for a while before I decide just how wild I want to get.

400HP/TQ is about the level I'm comfortable with in a cruiser.

Recommend the TFS 170s instead of the GT40X heads. The TFS heads are light years better and similarly priced.

TFS 170 heads
Ed Curtis (FTI) custom cam
Performer RPM II intake
Lentech trans with a his recommended stall

There is an 11 second street car with suspension and an average driver.

Got my disabled veteran plate ordered today. Luckily MI doesn?t charge a registration fee for the car due to the plate, and it will auto-renew for the next 5 years. Considering our state just amped up registration fees, this is a huge plus.

That's a cool car. I have a 95 laser red gts myself. It has the original v6 interior and no power options except it has a spoiler and cruise control. Oh. It does have power mirrors. It's a t5 trans. I'm a fan of the gts cars.
