Re: 95' Cobra SVT Problems

just a side question, did anyone ever get to you about the engine revving to 2k between shifts? my 94 gt does this and someone else car did to, just curious if anyone had an answer.

glad to see your car is rising once again, don't give up.

Re: 95' Cobra SVT Problems

car is "running" now. However, when putting engine back in i forgot to check the oil pump drive shaft (fell out) and i ran the engine till just a lil over 'C' (temp). I'm pretty sure i spun some if not all of the rod bearings. I'm not real sure kuz the damn thing is so loud i can't reall hear anything in the oil-pan area. Puffin lots of thick white smoke too; but i'm sure thats a combination of timing and the remaining oil/rad. fluid in the pipes from the last engine that blew (piston through wall). The car sounds great, has instant throttle response and no knocking (like pushrod hitting valve cover) like the other. So basically at this point i'm going to have to burn more of the "crap" outta the exhaust so i can tune with mind and ear.

P.S - Equal amounts of thick white smoke out both pipes with equal pressure so no compression loss!! YEy

Re: 95' Cobra SVT Problems

yey, time fo mo help gents...

rebuilt engine has TFSI cam with that being the only mod...do not know wether or not the cam was degreed when i got it. do know that i had to put the cam sprocket and crank balancer on.

had the car running for about an hour idling normally.
from behind the car was pushing stoutly from the left pipe and noticably less stout from the right pipe...
after about an hour the i got the godawful clinking sound.

tore er' dowon to find a busted spring and dropped valve on cylinder 6...
had her tested for compression afterwards and she passed....
also had a camera ran into the cylinder to check things out and that passed...

before i put a new set of springs on i want to run down some specs/ ask stuff

current parts
-1.6 GT roller rockers (stamped steel; i know!!! all i could afford at time)
-stock push-rods
-stock lifters
-single coil valve springs
-gt40 heads (cobra original)
-stock upper/lower (cobra original)

with these things in mind i was curious to the push-rod length i should be using and wether or not this TFSI is the culprat of doom.

I believe I Can:

use the TFSI with the GT40's
use 6.25(in) push-rods
use 1.6 Roller-Rockers (1.7's cause clearance issues)
and NEED dual coil valve springs with maximum diameter of 1.55(in)

I have to buy parts this week so please grind your mind!!!
