90gt aod help

I just removed and replaced my tranny with a rebuilt AOD tranny on saturday and all is well except when i have the gear selector in overdrive it will go thru 2 gears and then it stops there and feels like im in neutral and wont go to next gear also the first two gears it goes through it feels like they are going through way to soon even at low speeds .
Could the cause of this be the throttle valve cable(kick down cable) needing adjustment or the shift linkage needing to be adjusted?????Or does it sound like I got taken for a ride on the rebuilt tranny???

Any advice will be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!!

Re: 90gt aod help

The AOD is a notoriously finicky transmission...I have a rebuilt AOD in my car but don't have the issues you were talking about. I'd check the kick down cable to see if anything was wrong there...if that's not the issue than I'd look to the rebuilder.

Re: 90gt aod help

Do that. Also..if you can't get it to work try manually shifting it a time or two and see if that will free it up.

Start in 1, then shift to D and back to 1 (this will put you in 2nd), then up into D (3rd), then up into OD (the equivalent of 4th). It may take you doing this to make it go right. Mine shifts really early and would be even more of a dog if it didn't have gears.

Re: 90gt aod help

so while im driving i start out in 1st then up to drive then right back into 1st and then back into drive then into overdrive , right? I had to drive back from my friends house as soon as i was done putting the new tranny in which is about 9 miles from my house with it doing this so I hope i didnt burn any of the gears up while the tv was out of adjustment. I heard it doesnt take much . If this doesnt work I guess im just gonna save up for the t-5 conversion

Ya, it's called the AOD shuffle. Drive one long enough and you'll have it memorized. If you ever try to race it you'll need to know that lol.
