my cheap stang project, tell me what u think

i bought a 1988 mustang, while driving it home (after i got it running in the guys yard). half way home..... no oil pressure... figures. anyways i shut it down, it started to rattle just a lil on the top end before i turned it off. so i firgured why not rebuild the entire motor. i just bought a set of gt40p heads, i have a stock 50 intake that has been ported and polished, 70mm throttle body and spacer, i still have to get a e303 cam. and i have 24 pound injectors, 373 gears. and the car came with aftermarket headers. also i am going to buy a rebuild kit from summit racing. it has the forged pistons. i plan to get about 340 to 350 hp... is that possible with these combination of mods?? lemme knoe what you think.
thanks
ps.. all of this shouldnt cost me but a lil over $2000.00 including the car..

340 to 350 sounds high. That would be around 280 RWHP. You're going to have a really hard time making that with a ported stock intake and stock GT40-P heads.

Around 250 RWHP seems more reasonable.

there are better ways to build it but if you are on a tight budget then just get what really matters and use good stuff to build it up~ as said though if your goal is 350rwhp you will have to buy some different parts.

Re: my cheap stang project, tell me what u think

Bubbafinch,

Ford essentially offered the same engine you have as the GT-40 combo in a parts program back in 1992-1993. It had GT-40 heads and a GT-40 intake, roller rockers, E-303, headers, 24 lb. injectors, and a 65 mm TB. They rated it at 275 flywheel HP with the E-Cam in a street legal package. For off-road, with the B-303 cam, they claimed either 325 or 340 flywheel HP.

In an old magazine I have it shows their parts. I'll see if I can't dig it up and scan it for you. And remember, like high explosives, most automotive challenges can be cleared up with a 150 nitrous shot!

Congratulations and good luck with your new car.
Jim

I think with the B-shaft you will be close to 300whp & you could always boost it!.. the Bcam with a small amount of boost should run good, you may want to go with a slightly bigger injector though!
